You may have noticed that despite being ‘pretty much a done deal’ late last week, Pablo Zabaleta to AS Roma still hasn’t been made official.

The Argentinean right-back had allegedly agreed a three-year deal with the Serie A side while the two clubs were closing in on an agreement that could see the 31-year-old move for as little as £2.1m.

Well, things haven’t gone as swimmingly as first planned, according to Gazzetta dello Sport on Monday, mostly because of Zabaleta’s agent.

According to the Italian newspaper, the transfer has currently hit a stumbling block because of the ‘high’ fee asked by the player’s agent to get a deal done.

However, Gazzetta don’t think this will be a deal breaker, more like a hiccup, and the transfer could be back on track ‘in the coming hours’, which we all know is transfer talk for ‘who knows when?’.

This seems like another ‘fret not, this will happen’ clarification from the Italian daily.

It’s just taking a little longer than expected.
