Aymeric Laporte’s transfer to Manchester City is edging closer to completion by the hour, as El Correo in Spain report the French defender has already passed his medical with the Premier League side.

The local newspaper report the 23-year-old underwent the required series of tests on Sunday, and the official confirmation and presentation are expected to take place tomorrow.

Furthermore, Manchester City have told Athletic Club that it will today present the €65m required to trigger the forward’s release clause to the Liga Profesional, with the group of lawyers hired by the Premier League club having already travelled to Madrid.

With Pep Guardiola already preparing his side’s game against West Brom on Wednesday, El Correo expect Laporte to watch the game from the stands, as there’s very little chance of him making the match day squad.

The Spaniard had asked for a left-footed central defender for the second-half of the season, and that’s exactly what he’s getting.
