Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz will reportedly get a chance to prove himself to Pep Guardiola during preseason.
Signed by Manchester City in 2017, the player didn’t have a chance to appear for the club in his first year in Europe, as he was immediately sent to Spanish side Girona on loan.
But according to Globo Esporte today, the player and his agent have already been told the Premier League champions are waiting for him in July.
Pep Guardiola will evaluate the 20-year-old during preseason, and then decide if he should stay for the season or leave the club once again.
Globo Esporte says that the feeling at Manchester City is that the player was underused at Girona. The midfielder made only 17 appearances for the Spanish side last season, only one as a starter in La Liga.
Luiz cost City €12m when moving from Brazilian side Vasco da Gama. His contract with Manchester City lasts until 2022.
