If you were wondering whether Monday was going to bring big Kalidou Koulibaly to Manchester City news, the answer is no.
It’s not that there isn’t any news, but there is no agreement between the two clubs and there’s a reason for that.
Corriere dello Sport on Monday explain Fali Ramadani, the player’s agent, has spent ‘the past two days’ in England, more precisely ‘in Manchester’.
The aim of this trip was to ‘find the real intentions of Manchester City for the Senegalese’, with Aurelio De Laurentiis refusing to ‘drop below €70m’, even if ‘he would actually like more’.
One of the reasons for that is ‘he now knows that Paris Saint-Germain would eventually still be ready to sit around a table to have a chat’ about his centre-back.
Part of this is echoed by La Repubblica, relayed by CalcioNapoli24, who claim the ‘next few days will be decisive’ and the ‘marriage remains standing’ between Manchester City and Koulibaly.
While PSG want to get involved, ‘the person concerned (i.e. the defender) prefers the Premier League’ and the contacts between the parties ‘continue’.
La Repubblica explain City ‘must abandon’ the idea of €60m and ‘exceed €70m, perhaps inserting some bonuses to close the deal at €75m’.
However, ‘the feeling is that there is little time left to define a very complex sale, on which the whole of Napoli’s market will depend’.
