You might have heard a little story going around that Thiago Alcântara is looking for a way out from Bayern Munich.

After all, it’s made a lot of noise, with both Liverpool and Manchester City keen on bringing the Spaniard to Anfield and the Etihad respectively.

You would think Pep Guardiola might have an advantage here, having previously worked with the midfielder at both Barcelona and Bayern Munich, but with the Reds where they are in the world of football and Jürgen Klopp at the helm, it’s not that simple.

Liverpool have seemed in the lead for quite some time now, with an agreement between Thiago and the Premier League club already reported in Germany, but that doesn’t mean Manchester City have given up.

According to Soccer Link in France, Guardiola’s side have ‘stepped on the accelerator’ in their attempts to sign the deep lying playmaker, but it’s made clear the league champions have a ‘considerable advantage’.

There’s also mention that Guardiola has been in contact with both Kingsley Coman and David Alaba regarding moves to Manchester City, but that’s already been reported a number of times.

Furthermore, it’s explained in a previous tweet those in charge at the Etihad are still ‘worked up’ about the Bayern board because of how they went about getting the Leroy Sané deal over the line.

Either way, the Etihad club haven’t given up on Thiago even if there’s a lot of work ahead when it comes to overtaking Liverpool.
