With the transfer window now over, we enter the much maligned first international break of the season, which means interviews all over the shop.
On Thursday, Marca decided to speak to new Manchester City signing Nolito, who has already made an instant impact on Pep Guardiola’s team, scoring three goals and picking up two assists in five appearances.
Continuing on in England from his La Liga form, the 29-year-old spoke of his delight at being surrounded by such fantastic players on a daily basis, including his compatriot David Silva.
He said: “I get on really well with him, we call him the magician. It’s really easy playing alongside him. A ‘crack’, I hope we’ll play next to each other for many years.”
The player also explained that playing under Pep Guardiola was really great, albeit despite the language barrier, as the Spanish manager appears to refuse to speak in Spanish during training sessions.
He said: “You learn a lot under him [Pep]. I think that, individually, I’m going to get a lot better. He says everything in English, so I need to learn the language. I’m going to try, at least.”
The former Celta Vigo star did, however, reveal he missed his former town, but promised to visit it when he has the time.
For now, however, it’s Spain duty, with a friendly against Belgium before what should be a walk in the park of a World Cup qualifier against Lichtenstein.
Before this comes back to haunt us, remember we said “should be”.
