Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva is ‘attracted’ by the possibility of signing for Barcelona this summer.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who explain the 27-year-old has already held talks with the Citizens as he would be open to leaving the Etihad if there is a good offer.

He is aware of the La Liga side’s interest in him through his agent, Jorge Mendes. Due to this, the midfielder’s entourage have given their approval to the English champions to negotiate with Barca, if they submit a proposal.

There’s already been first contacts between the two sides, but without any formal offer. Silva has nothing against the Premier League winners and is delighted with the manner in which he has been treated at the Etihad.

The Portugal international has had a desire to leave City since the global pandemic began. He was a target for the Catalan club last summer, but a deal didn’t take shape.

Pep Guardiola had then convinced the ex-Monaco man to continue for at least one season, and had agreed for the latter’s exit this summer, provided there is a convincing offer.

A fee of €80m plus €20m is what City are demanding. This is the same fee that Barca are asking from Manchester United to sanction Frenkie de Jong’s sale. The Dutchman’s exit could open the door for the Citizens star to arrive at the Camp Nou.

Silva currently earns less than what De Jong draws at Barca. Therefore, Xavi Hernández’s side will not have any issues, in terms of their wage bill, to sign the City star.

Mundo state Guardiola will ‘not make it easy’ for Silva to leave because he likes the player. This may not be a hurdle if Barcelona can arrange the finances and also manage to sell De Jong.
