It’s only been a few days since the French media broke the news saying Manchester City are interested in signing Antoine Griezmann from Barcelona.

At the end of the last week, it was said that Pep Guardiola has spoken to the player on the phone, as he looks for a replacement for Sergio Aguero.

Now we get a new slant from the Catalan press, it turns out that their information doesn’t come from Barcelona, but from Manchester City instead.

Mundo Deportivo features a story claiming official sources from the English club ‘flatly deny’ having any interest in signing Griezmann, dismissing claims they’d make an offer for the player this summer.

Mundo Deportivo seems to buy this version of the story, claiming it’s more likely that Griezmann could head back to Atletico Madrid, as Barcelona would like to sign Saul Niguez.

The clubs are said to have been studying this option for a long time, and that’s why the comeback to the Colchoneros is considered a more likely option for the Frenchman this summer than a move to Manchester City.
