Manchester City sent a scout to watch Cadiz defender Victor Chust on Sunday as they eye a potential move in the summer.
That’s according to La Voz de Cadiz, who say Manchester City’s interest could end up changing the defender’s future.
The 22-year-old is currently on loan at Cadiz from Real Madrid’s Castilla setup and has established himself as a key player this season, with 19 appearances in La Liga so far.
His performances have earned him plenty of attention, according to La Voz, who say that the player ‘shows great promise’ now he’s been backed with regular minutes.
His ‘strength, pace and ball control’ are all big positives, and his trajectory is ‘picking up again’ as well.
So much so that Manchester City had scouts in the stands for Sunday’s clash with Villarreal, which Cadiz won 1-0, to ‘follow his progress’.
That’s come as bad news to Cadiz, who had planned to negotiate an extension to the loan deal with Real Madrid at the end of the season, or even acquire the player if they could.
However, the ‘emergence’ of Pep Guardiola’s side ‘could change things’ in that regard. It is even suggested that they could sign the defender and then send him to Cadiz on loan to continue his development.
The key point is that Chust’s contract with Real Madrid expires next year, meaning the Spanish giants will either have to sell this summer or get the defender signed to a new deal.
Whether Manchester City will make a move is yet to be seen, but they are certainly interested and have sent scouts to look over Chust as proof of that.
