Manchester City are keeping an eye on Inter Milan star Lautaro Martínez, according to claims from Italy.

Martínez finished the campaign as the Serie A side’s second top scorer with 19 goals, five behind Romelu Lukaku. The 23-year-old also managed 11 assists in all competitions.

According to FcInterNews, the goalscoring frontman’s renewal is ‘getting closer and closer’.

After securing Alessandro Bastoni’s long-term future, the Nerazzurri will now look to extend the Argentina international’s contract in the next few days.

He is set to sign a new deal until 2024, which will include a net salary of €5m per season  plus bonuses, and without any release clause.

Although the South American has never hidden his desire to continue in Milan, his renewal would ‘not put an end’ to rumours.

That’s because City, Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid ‘remain vigilant about the player’ and could ‘come forward’ to sign him in the coming weeks.

Manchester City’s Champions League clash against Chelsea will be Sergio Agüero’s last tie with the Etihad club. With Pep Guardiola’s side ‘vigilant’ over Martínez, the Inter player could be one of the candidates to replace his compatriot at City next season.
