For the past couple of days, we’ve seen reports from Portugal with strong claims regarding Manchester United’s chase for Sporting youngster Nuno Mendes.

However, it was actually Manchester City who were recently claimed to be leading the race for the 18-year-old, who’s been standing out for the Lions this season.

So newspaper Record now brings a story about it, claiming Pep Guardiola’s side may actually have to hurry in case they really want to sign the fullback.

Following the action from Manchester United, the outlet writes that Manchester City are now ‘pressed’ to respond to it.

Record recalls that Manchester City had already approached the player at the start of last month, and were recently the ‘best positioned’ club to get this signing.

In case the Sky Blues decide to hurry, it’s said they should ‘consequently’ start a deal for Pedro Porro. The Spaniard is currently loaned to Sporting, having a good season in Lisbon, and could end up involved in a deal for Mendes to ‘lower the price’ of the teenager.
