Manchester City defender Eric García made it to the front page of Sport on Monday.

Yesterday’s report explained Barcelona are preparing a ‘new offer’ of around €8m to sign the 19-year-old, as the need to sign a new centre-back in the winter market is ‘very urgent’.

It was also stated the Citizens player’s arrival midway through the season depends on the Catalan club balancing their finances. If not, the Spain international will arrive at the Camp Nou on a free transfer next summer when his contract runs out.

These claims are once again relayed in today’s edition of Sport, along with a few pieces of additional information.

As per the report, Barca will make a ‘concrete offer’ of €8m [no bonuses included] and ‘not one euro more’ for securing the teenager’s services in January.

It’s claimed a ‘relevant detail plays in the favour of Barca’ and that is the Catalan club having an ‘agreement in principle’ with the City player.

In addition to this, García, who has informed the Premier League side about his decision not to sign an extension, has not been a regular under Pep Guardiola.

Sport states García ‘wants to return to Barcelona and his willingness to sign for Barça is total’.

Whether it will be in January or after the end of this season remains to be seen.
