Sent to Barcelona after recently rupturing his Achilles tendon in his left foot, Claudio Bravo can now start thinking about recovery.
According to La Tercera in the goalkeeper’s home country, the Chile international has already undergone surgery to repair the damaged tendon.
The doctor in charge was Ramon Cugat, who will also be overseeing the recovery of Kevin De Bruyne, who is expected to be out of action for the next three months after suffering an injury to his knee ligament.
Unlike the 35-year-old goalkeeper, the Belgium international does not require surgery, meaning he’ll be back in action sooner than his teammate, who is now expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2018-19 campaign.
The hope is now for the goalkeeper to return to England in the coming days in order to start his rehabilitation.
Bravo’s absence led to a lot of speculation regarding who will provide backup to Ederson at Manchester City this season, with claims someone like Keylor Navas could be signed as an emergency, but the current trend suggests no one new will come in.
Instead, the Premier League champions have recalled Arijanet Muric from his now extremely brief loan spell at NAC Breda.
Daniel Grimshaw is expected to be the club’s third option should something happen to both Ederson and the Montenegrin.
