The Chilean media is now fed up with the constant criticism that Claudio Bravo directs to them. Often in clashes with the local journalists, the national team goalkeeper was once again pretty rough in a press conference this weekend.
As Bravo is seen as a leader of the squad, he’s always the one who defends their interests. But sometimes things get out of control, especially when he says the outlets are lying.
That’s why journalist Aldo Schiappacasse has slammed the player live on Canal 13. In a rant questioning why the goalkeeper doesn’t treat the British press in the same way he does with the Chilean, Schiappacasse criticised many comments made by Bravo in the press conference.
“He comes and focuses at us all, and I think it’s fine if he thinks it’s a lie, he has every right to tell us to our face that it’s a lie, but I’d love to have it in England too,” he said (via El Dinamo).
“They have treated him 1224 times worse than in Chile, where they have… Oh, I want to use the exact word again, they have ironised him much more cruelly.”
“I would love to see Claudio Bravo doing the same thing with English journalists. I would love to have a press conference where he comes out and tells the English journalists to their face, ‘you lie, you lie and lie up and down’.”
Chile lost to Argentina 1-0 last Thursday, and are now currently out of the zone of qualification for the 2018 World Cup.
With only five fixtures left, they will be facing Paraguay this Tuesday. If Chile lose, they’ll be dropping to seventh place, and only five get through to the tournament.
