Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho is set to agree details to his free move to Athletico Paranaense next week, according to reports from Brazil.

Globo Esporte claims the midfielder is currently enjoying his last days of holidays, while he also waits for the end of his contract with the Citizens, which expires on the last day of June.

Besides the deal running out, Fernandinho is also expected to be honoured by Manchester City. Only then will he announce where he’s playing next.

Globo Esporte says he’ll land in Brazil next week to sort out the final details and then sign a contract with Athletico. Given the window only opens on July 18th, there’s still plenty of time for it all to happen.

The report claims that since announcing he’d leave Manchester City, Fernandinho had approaches from Europe and Brazil, with the likes of Atlético-MG, Corinthians, Botafogo, Flamengo and Palmeiras all making contact.

Many of those sides could offer him a bigger chance of winning titles, but he always wanted a return to his former club, and that’s what he’s doing.
