Manchester City weren’t at their very best on Sunday as they won at Old Trafford, and they didn’t really need to be.

A poor Manchester United performance, dragged down several notches by a terrible Romelu Lukaku shift, contributed to the day.

Rather than the 2-1 City victory being an example of why Pep Guardiola’s team are so great, it was closer to an example of problems for Jose Mourinho.

As the postmortem now gets into full swing, it’s interesting to see what some of Europe’s most prominent sport newspapers made of the whole thing.

Marca have some player ratings which show they weren’t particularly impressed by anyone… apart from David Silva.

No other player on either side got more than two stars, and Fabian Delph was given a – rating, meaning it’s felt he didn’t deserve even a solitary little star.

Even Romelu Lukaku got a star.

In fact, there’s not much between the performance of the two sides as far as Marca are concerned, with Jose Mourinho’s men not coming off much worse than the winners.

Gazzetta were also impressed with Silva, including the Manchester City player in their European Team of the Week.

Back in Spain, Catalan newspaper Sport, who are obviously big fans of Pep, went the cutting headline ‘Guardiola reigns at Mou’s house’.
