Flamengo have rejected an offer from the City Group for midfielder Vinícius Souza, according to reports from the Brazilian media.
Outlet O Dia says it’s the player’s agents who brought a €4m bid for the 21-year-old, but that was turned down by the club in the past few hours.
It isn’t clear if it’s Manchester City who’d like to take the youngster now, but considering the investment that would be made by the City Group, that sounds like a good possibility.
O Dia says that Flamengo rejected the offer due to Jorge Jesus’ wish. The manager would like to count on Vinícius Souza in his squad for the 2020 season.
It’s also claimed Flamengo told the player’s representatives that they have a plan for his career, and intend to renew his current contract, which runs until the end of 2021.
Since Flamengo currently have a squad full of stars, Vinícius is one of the youngsters fighting to prove themselves and get a place in the team.
