The way the Italian media have been reporting on the Lucien Agoumé to Inter deal this past week, it was almost a guarantee he would sign.
He was seen as the first acquisition of the new Antonio Conte era, but nothing has been announced yet, and TuttoMercatoWeb claim to know why.
The reason is Sochaux have three other offers in hand, including one from Manchester City.
Inter are said to be prepared to pay up to €6m (bonuses included) for the young midfielder, yet Juventus, Barcelona and the aforementioned Cityzens are making things awkward.
Manchester City’s interest in the youngster shouldn’t be a surprise after the 17-year-old took hugely impressed in Ligue 2 last year, and it’s no secret the Premier League champions have been looking to stock up on talented youth for their academy.
Whether their offer trumps Inter’s isn’t said, but if previous reports were anything to go by, Agoumé was leaning towards a move to San Siro, where he probably stands the best chance of breaking into the first-team.
We’ll see, but Manchester City might end up missing out on this one.
