Perhaps one of the more boring transfer sagas of the summer, Joao Cancelo to Manchester City is nearing its end one way or another.

We say it’s been boring because nothing has actually happened. No twists, no turns. Nothing. Just two clubs playing a really drawn out game of chicken and leaving it to the last minute to get something done.

It all started off with the idea from City’s end to include Danilo in a potential deal, which Juventus weren’t that keen on.

The Italians wanted cash up front, but the Premier League champions refused to match their valuation of €55m+, so everything stalled.

That means we are now back to square one, six days from the transfer window closing in England, and, somehow, Danilo has increased in value.

Previous reports about the Brazilian being included mentioned a €40m + player deal, yet Gazzetta dello Sport on Friday believe the offer from Manchester City would now be €30m + the right-back, whom they want to get rid of for €30m.

The Italian newspaper explain a meeting could potentially happen today between the two sides, which will hopefully end this saga once and for all.

Corriere dello Sport, down their end, reckon City might offer even less, perhaps going as low as €20-25m + Danilo for Cancelo, clearly feeling they are in the stronger position here.

As we’ve said, one way or another, this ends soon, but for both clubs, you would hope it does so positively.
