‘Guardiola insiste en Koke’ is the headline of an article in Thursday’s edition of Marca newspaper. It’s pretty clear, they explain Manchester City want to sign a midfielder, and Pep Guardiola has his eye on the Atletico Madrid player.

Marca say such is Manchester City’s need to find a midfielder, Guardiola has been forced to bring Yaya Toure back into the fold, against the Spanish manager’s will. Manchester City will ‘move the machinery’ on a potential deal and have already compiled reports on 24 year old Koke.

The Premier League club tried to sign Koke during the summer, according to the claims, and Guardiola believes the player is a perfect fit in terms of midfield versatility.

The Marca claims can be boiled down to ‘Guardiola wants Koke, he’s probably not getting him’, and there doesn’t appear to be a great deal of reason for the newspaper to have published the article today.

Perhaps Koke, who last renewed in 2014, feels a new contract is deserved.

On the buyout clause, different figures have been reported previously in Spain, and the €150m is higher than any other previously claim amount for the buyout.
