Valencia will have to do without Ferran Torres for the new season as the winger is set to seal a move to Manchester City in the ‘next few days’.

Two days ago, we covered claims from Marca explaining Valencia’s interest in City’s Yangel Herrera.

The La Liga side are looking to strengthen their squad, and the Venezuela international has emerged as a target, according to AS.

It’s claimed Spanish club have already contacted both the player and City to find out the conditions for the transfer.

The South American and his agents were in Valencia on Thursday, and were seen having dinner together. According to the report, this indicates the ‘negotiations are very open’ for Herrera’s transfer.

AS state City are willing to listen to offers around €15m, but Torres’ signing could make Pep Guardiola’s side lower their claims. The Etihad club could also agree for a loan deal with a purchase option.

Herrera’s arrival at the Spanish club will depend on the situation with Gabriel Paulista. The current non-EU slots at Valencia are taken by Lee Kang-in, Maxi Gómez and Gabriel.

The former Arsenal man ‘hopes to achieve dual nationality’, and should that happen, it would free a slot for Valencia to sign the City owned player.

Valencia have appointed Javi García as their new manager, and the newspaper are of the belief Herrera may be his first signing.

Herrera primarily operates as a defensive midfielder, but he has also been used as a centre-back during his loan spell at Granada.
