As things stand, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are the only two clubs in the Premier League who are yet to lose after seven games.
Neither of them are top, since that’s where Arsenal sit, but they did lose to Manchester United, which put a halt to a five game winning streak.
Whether that will be the Gunners’ only loss remains to be seen, but – down their end – Manchester City and Tottenham will be wanting to preserve their invincible status as long as possible, with both managers undoubtedly keen to see who can go the longest without losing.
In fact, Antonio Conte’s Spurs have surprised a lot of people with how impressive they have been to date, and some at the Etihad are keeping a close eye on them.
He said: “They have put together a great squad and they have a manager who has very clear ideas and who knows how to convey them perfectly. They know what they have to do and they do it with great precision. I see Spurs as candidates for the title. Conte’s career speaks for itself.”
That’s certainly a lot of praise from someone who has just lifted the Premier League trophy and a clear mark of respect for what the Italian manager has put together in a short period of time with Spurs.
