On Tuesday, we covered a report from Italy suggesting Liverpool were interested in Alessandro Bastoni.

The news came from Leggo, claiming the Reds, in search for a new centre-back, had set their sights on the left-footed defender, and a fee of €50-60m could be enough to reluctantly convince Inter of getting a deal done.

Antonio Conte wouldn’t be happy about it, but it could be he doesn’t have a choice, since Manchester City are also said to be on the case.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who explain that Inter would like to offload both Christian Eriksen and Ivan Perisic, but would be unwilling to do so with Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez and Bastoni.

Either way, the newspaper mention the Italian defender ‘can boast an important admirer’ in Pep Guardiola, suggesting Manchester City wouldn’t mind him at the Etihad.

This is isn’t entirely unsurprising, since the Premier League champions have been linked numerous times with Bastoni in the past, often with it stated that their Spanish manager is a fan of the 22-year-old.

Unless they decide to offload Nathan Aké, however, Manchester City aren’t exactly in the need of a left-footed centre-back, so barring the Dutchman leaving, this seems like a difficult one to believe for the time being.
