Most Mondays, Gazzetta dello Sport pick out a selection of the best performers from around Europe and put them into a European Team of the Week.
The grand old Italian newspaper ignore their own Serie A for the purpose, and focus on elsewhere.
Usually there’s three or four performers from the Premier League. This week there’s just the two, which could have something to do with it being an FA Cup weekend.
The selection is something of a surprise, with Manchester United’s Sergio Romero chosen in goal.
A very capable back up, the Argentina international didn’t do anything wrong in the 3-1 victory over Arsenal on Friday, but he didn’t exactly have to stop a barrage of shots either and probably wasn’t considered Man of the Match by many, or any, Manchester United fans.
Gabriel Jesus’ inclusion isn’t quite as big a surprise, given the Brazilian scored a goal against Burnley as his Manchester City side won 5-0.
Still, there’s certain to be many City fans who didn’t think Jesus was the best performer for Pep Guardiola’s team at the weekend.
