You may have seen a couple of articles over the past few days claiming that Manchester City had made an offer for Kalidou Koulibaly, only for it to be deemed ‘too low’ by Aurelio de Laurentiis.
The Napoli owner has made it clear he would like a figure nearing or matching €100m, and Gazzetta dello Sport explain on Wednesday that what Fali Ramadani’s brought over from the Premier League club was way off that.
The Italian newspaper claim Manchester City made a €65m bid for the centre-back, meaning there is still a big gap between the two clubs.
Gazzetta then go on to explain that Ramadani’s biggest problem is his relationship with Txiki Begiristain, as the director ‘still hasn’t digested’ Jorginho’s U-turn to Chelsea when a deal bringing him to the Etihad was sorted.
With that in mind, it’s said Manchester City ‘don’t want to be used’ to create an ‘auction’ for the centre-back, and are therefore ‘very careful’.
Down his end, Ramadani is trying to smooth the corners and get the two parties as close as possible, keeping in mind that Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool remain in the background.
However, they don’t currently have the funds to go for Koulibaly, so they are to be put to one side for now.
