Premier League sides Chelsea and Manchester City are both named today in the race for Porto left-back Alex Telles.
It’s Portuguese newspaper Record who brings a story about the player, focusing on the news that Real Madrid would be following him as well.
They say the left-back could replace Marcelo in case of a departure, and by doing that, he would be following his teammate Eder Militão, who has already agreed a transfer to the Spanish giants.
Record claims that Porto are aware of the ‘sharks’ who are following Telles, and ‘won’t even speak’ to clubs who can’t pay the player’s €40m release clause.
Record says that Telles has received approaches from Chelsea, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid.
This means Pep Guardiola and Maurizio Sarri should now know how much they need to spend to land the Brazilian, who’s been excelling for Porto for a few years now.
This isn’t the first time the Blues have been linked with Telles, but with FIFA rejecting Chelsea’s appeal for their transfer ban, maybe that’s one less club in the race.
As for Manchester City, they need depth at the position considering Benjamin Mendy’s situation, having had to rely on Oleksandr Zinchenko and Aymeric Laporte throughout the current campaign.
