For the past couple of months, we’ve been covering the rumours about Manchester City loanee Uriel Antuna, whose future is the subject of a transfer tussle.
The striker has been doing pretty well at LA Galaxy, who want to keep him, but they have competition from Mexican side Chivas Guadalajara, who have been fighting for his signing.
Antuna has scored for Mexico last night, and his form for the national team isn’t going unnoticed.
The 22-year-old netted a last minute winner against Bermuda, and as written by the local press, this is the perfect closing of a ‘golden year’ for his country.
It’s Marca Claro who tells his story, pointing out he didn’t make his international debut until June. He actually hadn’t been called up for Copa Oro, but due to a series of injuries, he ended up being added to the squad.
After six months and 11 matches, Antuna now has seven goals and five assists, which are quite impressive starts for a player who has just joined the national team.
Rumours from North America say Manchester City will demand about US$10m to sell Antuna. Now we wonder if they shouldn’t try to get more money for him in Europe, or even give him a chance at the club in the next season.
Antuna signed for Manchester City in 2017, and has never made an appearance for the Premier League side.
