Never afraid to say what’s on his mind, interviewing Samir Nasri appears to be a favourite exercise of the French media, knowing they’ll get a story from him regardless.

A perfect example of this was the Manchester City loanee’s latest appearance on French television with L’Equipe 21 inviting him to their evening show “L’Equipe du Sir”.

Discussing seemingly every topic under the sun, including the sex restrictions imposed by Pep Guardiola on his teams, the attacking midfielder was asked about a potential return to his former club in Ligue 1, Marseille.

Recently changing owners and expecting a nice cash injection for the upcoming January transfer window, the French club will certainly be able to attract a different calibre of player, but Nasri still doesn’t think they can afford him.

Relayed by TopMercato, he said: “Let’s speak frankly. Financially speaking, how could Marseille… or there’s no one left at Marseille and I play on my own. Take Sevilla, for example, who pay only half my wages, I don’t know if French clubs can do that, apart from PSG and Monaco.”

With a salary exceeding £6m/year, the former Arsenal forward is certainly well paid for his services, even if he spent a lot of time on the bench at Manchester City.

Now finding form again in Spain (but currently injured), the Manchester City loanee is clearly unwilling to take any kind of payout at this stage in his career.
