Manchester City have been looking over in Central America and South America for a while now, and they’ve found a few gems here and there for future use.
For example names Marlos Moreno and Gabriel Jesus will be very familiar to City fans, as both have been bought by the club, the former loaned to Deportivo La Coruña straight away while the latter joins them in January.
However, according to Tiempo in Mexico, joining to that list could be Chivas midfielder Orbelín Pineda.
The Mexican website claim on Monday that Pep Guardiola’s side are very interested in the 20-year-old, who made his debut for his country back in September after impressing with his club.
The versatile midfielder has enjoyed a decent start to the season since joining Chivas from Queretaro FC, playing in every game in the league since, scoring four times and picking three assists in 33 appearances.
The youngster has been ‘carrying the team on his back’, which has led to interest from Europe, including Manchester City, who are yet to make an offer for the player, but are keeping an eye.
The club’s owner, Jorge Vergara, explained they weren’t looking to sell their starlet, whether it was now or next summer, claiming Pineda could stay with them for a ‘good while’.
We wonder if he’ll be saying similar things if City’s interest becomes a tempting bid?
