Manchester City have a new target for the left-back position, according to claims from Mexico.
According to TUDN journalist Luis Omar Tapia, the Citizens are now interested in signing Gerardo Arteaga, who plays for Belgian side KRC Genk.
The information was brought during the live broadcast of Manchester City’s friendly match against Mexican side Club America. There, the journalist revealed that the player is in the ‘orbit’ of the Premier League side.
The reason Pep Guardiola would now be considering Arteaga is that negotiations for Marc Cucurella, with Brighton & Hove Albion, have become ‘complicated’. Those involved in negotiations for the Spaniard have very different ideas on price.
Despite having a more complete story about this report on their website, TUDN don’t seem to have any information on how advanced are the talks for the Genk player.
Interestingly, Arteaga had already been linked to other Premier League sides this summer, although those weren’t clubs of the sporting level Manchester City are at.
Earlier this month, the Mexican version of Marca claimed that Brighton, Fulham and Leeds United were all keeping an eye on the left-back.
