PSG are very interested in signing Fabinho from AS Monaco, so much so they’ve made an offer of €45m, which has been rejected by the Brazilian’s club.

L’Equipe believe the price could go as high as €60m, with Monaco not keen on strengthening a rival, but clearly not averse to the strength of money.

Three other clubs are credited with interest by the French newspaper: Manchester City, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid.

There’s no mention this time of Manchester United, despite fans of the club waging a social media campaign to get the player. It’s been rampant, journalists suggesting there’s no interest, even those being polite about it, have faced a barrage of abuse and questioning from a section of the club’s more excitable support.

Jose Mourinho must be interested, it makes sense, the signing is happening etc etc…

And, to be fair, it makes an awful lot of sense for Manchester United to snatch Fabinho. He’d be a great addition to the squad, and clearly fancies a move, flirting via Brazilian TV.

However, he’s also explained he’d love to work for Pep Guardiola, which levels out any advantage there, and this could be an opportunity for Manchester City to provide a solution to Monaco’s problem.

Selling Fabinho to City rather than PSG for €50m rather than €60m is quite some fluffing of the feathers and a message from the French champions, but they have to be given that opportunity first. It’s unlikely either Atletico, in January, or Juventus would go so high.

Manchester City would not only get Fabinho, but also bragging rights on the transfer, which, increasingly, is a big thing for some fans.
