According to Fanatik, Manchester City director Txixi Begiristain has advised Jason Denayer not to go to Turkey. The Turkish newspaper say Galatasaray’s hopes of Denayer joining them for a second spell have received a huge blow following comments allegedly made by the Manchester City director to Denayer.
Fanatik have claimed Begiristain has told Denayer: ‘Don’t go to Turkey. The level of the league is not good enough for you. Instead you should go to a league like Ligue 1, Serie A or the Bundesliga. These are more suitable for you.’
The Turkish media very often paraphrase what it’s believe has been said, and it shouldn’t be taken as a direct quote, more an example of what the Manchester City boss explained to Denayer.
However, despite Begiristain advising the Belgian international, Fanatik report Denayer still wants to join Galatasaray, and he’s told his agent to push for a move to the Turkish giants.
Cim Bom are looking to sign two central defenders for next season and their manager Igor Tudor has been given the green light by the Galatasaray board to sign the Manchester City player.
Denayer spent the last season on loan at Sunderland, but with the North East club relegated to the Championship it’s unlikely he’ll return. The Belgian will probably need to go out on loan again in order to get more playing time, especially with the World Cup on the horizon.
