Dinamo Zagreb youngster Ante Coric has turned down the chance to sign for Manchester City because he didn’t like the Premier League sides plans for him. Earlier today we covered reports from Croatia a deal was looking likely, and that the attacking midfielder had played his last game for his club.
Vecernji have revealed Coric rejected a move to Manchester City because their plan was to loan him out to La Liga side Granada for the season. Manchester City officials met with Dinamao Zagreb last night to discuss the transfer of the Croatian international, and a bid of €18m was tabled by the English side.
However, Manchester City wanting to send Coric to Spain on loan didn’t appeal to the player as he wants to join an ambitious club where he would be a focal point of the squad, and be allowed to develop. Those two wishes may not go hand in hand.
Coric was reported to have played his last game last night when he came on as a second half substitute during Dinamo Zagreb’s victory over Red Star Salzburg in the Europa League.
Anything on Coric, or any Dinamo Zagreb player for that matter, has to be taken with a pinch of salt. There’s been so many claims of deals almost done over the past few windows, and they’ve all quickly fallen apart.
