Manchester City are in danger of losing Dr Eduardo Mauri, a key Catalan member of Pep Guardiola’s back-room staff.
Mauri has an excellent CV for a doctor working in football. He used to be a professional footballer for Espanyol, before getting his medical qualifications. He’s previously worked as director of sports medicine at Hospital Quiron, perhaps the best known go-to place in Europe for footballers.
Pep Guardiola brought Mauri and other Catalans in to get the Manchester City set-up just the way he wanted it, but could now be set to lose him. Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo report that Espanyol have eyed up Mauri to be their new chief doctor, and the Catalan newspaper believe it’s simply all too tempting to turn down.
Despite having a contract at Manchester City, Mundo Deportivo report that Mauri ‘will do everything’ to be able to return to a club which is obviously in his heart, and get to go back to Catalonia at the same time.
