Manchester City can give Erling Haaland ‘exactly what he wants’ this summer and are ready to make a move to secure his signature.
That’s according to BILD, who say that Pep Guardiola and co. ‘want to get’ the Norwegian star and can very much afford to do so.
As you’ll be aware, Haaland is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer when a release clause activates in his current contract.
The value of that release clause varies depending on whom is reporting it but is believed to be between €75m and €100m, a figure all the top clubs in Europe consider to be a bargain.
Manchester City are one of them and are likely to be on the hunt for a new centre-forward this summer, having failed to sign a replacement for Sergio Aguero and sold Ferran Torres to Barcelona in January.
BILD now state that Haaland is at the top of their list, and they ‘want to get’ the striker in the summer if they can.
The newspaper reports that they can ‘easily pay’ the striker’s €35m a year wage demands and his release clause, which they say is valued at €75m.
They can also offer Haaland a ‘title guarantee’, which is ‘exactly what he wants’ from whatever club he joins this summer. Thus, City can give him everything he is looking for.
BILD also state that Manchester City have now turned their attention to Haaland after cooling on Harry Kane, who they believe is now going to join Manchester United instead.
Whether that’s correct is up for debate, but it seems Haaland will be leaving Dortmund, indeed ‘only a few people’ at the German club this otherwise, and City intend to be right at the front of the queue.
