Denis Suarez left Manchester City to sign for Barcelona in 2013 for €1.5m, but the deal had clauses allowing the English club to receive further bonus payments.
The Spanish midfielder returned to Barcelona this summer from Villarreal in a €3.25m switch, but the Catalan giants must pay Manchester City €800,000 after every ten appearances he makes for them, reports Mundo Deportivo on Monday.
Mundo Deportivo say Barcelona will have to make a maximum of ten payments through this clause, which means Manchester City can make up to €8m should Suarez make 100 appearances for the Catalan giants.
The 22-year-old has made 9 appearances so far this season, with most of them coming from the bench. Suarez could be a key part of Luis Enrique’s plans in the future, and may played more regularly later in the season.
Manchester City will obviously be hoping he keeps featuring regularly for Barcelona. Suarez has two assists to his name this season, and would certainly want to put up a good performance on Wednesday night against his former club, of given the chance.
