On Tuesdar morning, we covered a story from Portuguese newspaper A Bola which said Manchester City were about to meet Sporting and make a bid for midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

The newspaper said the Lions director Hugo Viana would be travelling to England ‘in the coming hours’, where Pep Guardiola’s side would be offering over €50m for the player, being ready to spend up to €70m.

Hours later, Fernandes was spotted at the Estoril Open, where he was pictured with Bernardo Silva. The Manchester City star was interviewed by the local press, and had good things to say about the Sporting midfielder.

As newspaper A Bola covers the quotes today, they add a few updates on the whole situation, now claiming that the meeting between City and Sporting is yet to happen.

A Bola says the offer is ‘prepared’, and the meeting is happening in Manchester on Friday.

Sporting director Hugo Viana is the one who will represent the Lisbon club, and is already expecting a bid to be made by the Premier League side.

It’s now said Manchester City are ready to spend around €70m in the signing of the midfielder, who’s currently protected by a €100m release clause.
