On Monday, reports coming out of the UK explained that İlkay Gündoğan is set to leave Manchester City after this season.
It was also stated the midfielder was seen in the private jet terminal at Manchester Airport.
Claims made about the possibility of the Germany international leaving Manchester City have reached his country, with Bild relaying it and providing their own information on this case.
Bild state the 31-year-old being spotted at the airport is correct, but it has nothing to do with any potential transfer negotiations. The report states ‘this is purely a private trip’. Pep Guardiola’s man was given two days off and he made a trip to Rome with his family.
As far as reports of Real Madrid interest, the German outlet explains there isn’t anything on this subject. His contract at the Etihad runs until 2023.
With regards to the former Borussia Dortmund man’s future at Manchester City, Bild says the two parties ‘want to sit down together’ at the end of this season, or beginning of next season, ‘to discuss a possible contract extension in peace’.
As it stands, it’s explained ‘there are no signals or clues that City has pointed in the direction of farewell’ for Gündoğan.
This is also backed up by Sport1, who state there isn’t anything to indicate or suggest the English club want to cut ties with the player after this season.
