While it’s been a summer of incomings at Real Madrid, there have also been plenty of departures as well.
Most of those have been in midfield, with the likes of Mateo Kovacic and Diego Llorente already leaving and Dani Ceballos and James Rodriguez likely to join them.
One who won’t be heading out the door, though, is Isco. El Confidencial report that he is set to remain at the club as Zinedine Zidane is a big fan and believes that he can rediscover his form after a poor year last season.
Likewise, Isco does not want to leave the club and he wants to ‘start from scratch’ under Zidane after falling out with Santiago Solari.
That will come as bad news to the likes of Manchester City, who El Confidencial say are interested in the Spaniard.

City believe that Isco fits perfectly into Pep Guardiola’s philosophy and apparently ‘await a response’ from the midfielder about a potential move. They’re likely to receive a firm no based on the information here but the newspaper suggests there is a way to get it done.
While nobody in Madrid wants to move Isco on, if a bid of €80m arrived then it would make Florentino Perez ‘doubt’ and the offer would be ‘studied’.
Isco, meanwhile, would need ‘star status’ and a considerable improvement on the €6m a year he currently makes at the Bernabeu.
City could definitely offer both of those things so it remains to be seen if they will do so, although this feels like something they could explore next summer once David Silva departs.
