Despite making it very clear in his press conference that he wasn’t interested in adding players to his Manchester City squad, news has emerged from ESPN in America that Pep Guardiola might not have been telling the truth.
According to Diego Cora on his Twitter account, the Citizens have had a £20m bid accepted by Valencia for their star left-back José Gaya, and the player is now expected to travel to undergo a medical in the ‘next few hours’.
@valenciacf acepta los £20M del @ManCity por Jose Gaya, que tendrá los exámenes médicos en horas. Pep apuesta por jugadores de La Liga.

Considering Aleksandar Kolarov and Gaël Clichy are on the wrong side of 30 in that position, rejuvenating that part of the squad was probably high on Guardiola’s list, and while he may have been telling the truth at the time of the press conference, things might have just moved very quickly.
With Valencia currently lying 15th in La Liga after a dreadful first-half of the season, it wouldn’t be surprising if one of their young talented players jumped at the opportunity of joining a big club in the Premier League like Manchester City.
We’ll be keeping an eye on this to see if there are any developments. If it’s true, this is huge news for City fans.
It would be a shock if Diego Cora got this scoop on the other side of the Atlantic, and the Valencia regional media were in the dark.
…And, a little digging shows he’s probably been tricked by a fake Twitter account.
