On Tuesday, journalist Bertrand Latour stated Paris Saint-Germain are interested in Leeds United’s Diego Llorente, who is currently on loan at AS Roma.
The Ligue 1 winners took Lucas Beraldo to compensate for Presnel Kimpembe’s long-term injury, but the new signing has suffered a setback and will be out for months. Milan Škriniar has also sustained an ankle injury and is set for a spell on the sidelines.
This has forced PSG to look for a centre-back in January and L’Equipe state the focus is on the Leeds owned player.
PSG have a good relationship with both the Whites and the Serie A side and that may help them with a potential deal for the 30-year-old. The newspaper says they aren’t aware of the details of the negotiations, because that hasn’t filtered yet.
PSG are exploring several options in the market and it’s explained that they are ‘especially making progress’ on the track leading to Llorente.
This season, the Leeds man has been a regular at Roma, making 23 appearances. It’s claimed José Mourinho wouldn’t be against the idea of parting ways with him in January.
Meanwhile, RMC Sport state PSG have made enquiries for the Spain international, who is ‘highly appreciated’ by Luis Enrique.
The PSG coach knows Llorente well as he managed him during his time with La Roja.
L’Equipe’s point about the details of negotiations not being known is key, because this is a complicated deal to deal. AS Roma have Llorente and have a buying option with Leeds United.
The Spaniard is a much valued member of Jose Mourinho’s team and the manager wants another defender this month, losing Llorente will absolutely not be on his agenda.
