As Fulham have once again scouted a Benfica match last night, we thought it’s worth pointing out the chase which has been growing since the start of the year.

Back in January, it was claimed that the London side made a €8m bid for the Eagles right-back André Almeida. A few days later, club scouts were spotted watching him in a Portuguese league game.

And last week, we covered reports which said Fulham sent scouts to Croatia, where they watched Benfica playing Dinamo Zagreb for the Europa League.

Now, Record reports Fulham watched the second leg as well, having sent emissaries to Lisbon, where they saw the Eagles win 3-0 and get qualification for the quarter-finals.

Almeida had a hard defensive task in the first half, but ended up winning most of the challenges. In the second half, he was able to attack more, and did a good job.

Of course Fulham could have watched other players, as the match had the likes of Ferro, Grimaldo and Jonas all impressing and scoring goals.

Other Premier League clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Wolverhampton, Watford, Everton, Leicester City, Tottenham, West Ham and Newcastle all had scouts at this match as well.
