It seems that West Bromwich Albion will have to double their bid in case they really want to sign Rodrigo Battaglia from Sporting this winter.
As reported by the Portuguese press earlier this month, the Baggies had a €15m bid for the midfielder rejected, although the Lions were willing to talk at a bigger amount.
Now Sporting are completing the signing of Fluminense’s Wendel, which will make Battaglia’s departure more likely to happen in the next few months.
As O Jogo reports the situation, they claim that €30m is the minimum price the Lions will sell him for. That’s the reason why most of the approaches have been unsuccessful, including from West Brom.
Sporting only own 80% of Battaglia’s rights, with the other 20% going to Braga. That’s one reason they want a big fee to have a decent income with the sale.
But €30m still sounds a lot for a rotation player, so we’re pretty sure that West Brom can get him for much less if having patience to negotiate.
And when negotiating with Sporting, a lot of patience is needed.
