Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayındır hasn’t done enough to push aside André Onana for the No.1 spot at Old Trafford.
Onana’s mixed performances have seen the Red Devils linked to a few stoppers and this includes Lille’s Lucas Chevalier. He graduated from the French club’s academy and has been their first-choice stopper over the past three seasons.
Foot Mercato state the 23-year-old has been attracting interest from elsewhere and only name Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain as interested parties.
It’s claimed the Champions League finalists have cooled their interest, mainly because of Gianluigi Donnarumma’s recent impressive performances.
The report indicates Manchester United could push to sign the France U23 international in the summer window. At the weekend, he attended the UNFP award ceremony where he talked about his desire to move to England.
The English club are 16th in the table, a point above 17th placed Tottenham Hotspur. The two clubs will face each other in this season’s Europa League final. Chevalier has used the duo’s league standings to underline the Premier League’s superiority.
“The Premier League? It’s a league that makes you dream, the most attractive,” he said.
“When you see Tottenham, Manchester United struggling with crazy players, you can see the level a bit. I have a two-year contract, and you know the president [laughs]. I haven’t had any specific offers from this country, but it makes you think.”
There isn’t anything concrete to indicate Ruben Amorim’s side will push to sign Chevalier, but if they do make that move then it sounds like he’d be receptive.
