Now with three goals in the last three games, it’s Ivan Cavaleiro’s time to be in the spotlight in the Portuguese media.

The Wolves attacker has given an interview to Portuguese newspaper Record this week, talking about the great form he’s been enjoying in the Championship lately.

“Of course I’m happy!” says the 24-year-old, after being picked for EFL’s team of the week. “It’s the result of the work I’ve been doing in recent months, but it’s also thanks to my teammates. This motivates me even more to continue working and improving.”

With only five goals and five assists, Cavaleiro didn’t have a great first season in England. But has improved a lot since the summer, now having six goals and six assists, and surpassing the previous numbers less than three months into the season.

“I believe this is the best moment of my career since I arrived in England. I felt some difficulties of adaptation in the first season, in which I suffered several injuries. This year I have managed to make more games as a starter and play at a good level.”

The player claims that a lot of this is down to Nuno Espírito Santo’s arrival at Wolves: “We had a conversation when he arrived at the club. He told me he wanted to help me grow as a player and make a better season than the last. He’s been a very important person to me. He and his technical staff, let me tell you! They are all concerned with our physical and personal wellbeing.”

Record mentioned Wolves attacking trio currently have 26 goals in the Championship, six for Cavaleiro, nine for Diogo Jota and 11 for Léo Bonattini.

Cavaleiro claims it’s all about their chemistry: “Fortunately, it has gone very well. We understand each other in attack, I hope it continues.”

Regarding being on top of the Championship and making great steps towards Premier League promotion, the 24 year old doesn’t want to get overexcited: “We are on the right track. We never stop being focused on our goal, but the Championship is long and very competitive. There is still a long way to go.

“It’d normal that the team’s campaign is exceeding our expectations. The squad has changed a lot from the past season to this one. The club have strengthened very well, both coaches and players. Now, that makes a huge difference!”
