With Gonzalo Higuain without a Serie A goal since October and Alvaro Morata continuing to struggle for prominence at Chelsea, the idea of a swap is once again being pushed in the Italian media.
Before the Argentine striker joined AC Milan on loan from Juventus in the summer, there were endless Italian claims about a possible deal involving the two strikers.
Morata seemed to be happier when playing for Juventus in Turin, and Maurizio Sarri worked so well with Higuain when the pair were both at Napoli.
That Higuain is now midway through that loan hasn’t killed things.
There’s been a few articles suggesting such a deal could be a possibility and Federico Pastorello, one of the best known agents around European football, has been asked about it by Italian radio.
Calciomercato have picked up the comments and quote him as saying: “I see some usefulness both for Milan and for Chelsea. Higuain is in crisis and at Chelsea he would find Sarri. And Morata maybe does not suit English football… tactically it would make sense.”
There’s a long way to go from there to an actual deal, and with Higuain now being 31 years of age, any transfer needs extra consideration, especially given Chelsea’s policy on contracts for over 30s.
