Last week, Estadio Deportivo reported Real Betis had sent officials to London to hold talks with Tottenham Hotspur for Giovani Lo Celso. It was also stated the Andalusian club had a meeting with the 28-year-old’s agent in Madrid.
El Mira say Real Betis are ambitious and their ‘main objective’ is to sign the midfielder and Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos in the summer window. Regarding the Spurs player, there’s been ‘official meetings’ between all parties already.
The Argentina international spent the 2018/19 season at the Estadio Benito Villamarín and then moved to Tottenham in 2019.
It’s claimed the Spurs player is one of Real Betis’ ‘great wishes’ and he would be keen on returning to his former club.
Lo Celso has struggled for regular game time under Ange Postecoglou this season. His deal lasts until 2025 and the report states Real Betis are finding it difficult to meet Spurs’ request.
El Mira say Manuel Pellegrini’s side are hopeful that Lo Celso’s desire to return to the club is ‘more than enough to unblock the operation’.
In other words, his intention to leave could help Real Betis convince Tottenham to lower their demands.
