Reports in England claim Manchester City have agreed a deal with Leicester City for Riyad Mahrez and the player is expected to complete his medical this week.

Algerian outlet Le Buteur have now spoken to someone close to the 27-year-old, who claims no medical has been scheduled for the Leicester player.

“Listen, what I can tell you is that no medical with Manchester City is planned this week, at least for the moment,” the source was quoted as saying.

The report goes on to quote the Mahrez sources as saying: “Things are clear. For Riyad to make a medical visit at Manchester City, an agreement must first be reached between the two clubs. Now, as I speak to you, none of this has been done yet. Do not worry, when an agreement is signed, both clubs will rush to publicly announce the information and the player will have time to attend his medical visit at his new club.”

The negotiations between Pep Guardiola’s side and Leicester have been slow, but Le Buteur cites the source as remaining confident the two English clubs will ‘eventually’ reach an agreement.

“What I can tell you is that the negotiations are progressing rather well. An agreement is near Insha Allah and everyone in the end will be happy.”

Claude Puel’s side have already started their preseason training. Mahrez was given an additional week off because he was part of the Algeria squad that played two international friendlies in June. He is expected to arrive on Sunday in the French town of Evian, which is where Leicester will be training for a few days.
