Rangers have enjoyed a week in the spotlight of the world sport media. Winning the Scottish Premiership title has prompted articles around the world about the Ibrox club’s rise back to the top after their serious struggles.
Steven Gerrard has been getting an awful lot of praise, with the Rangers boss being linked, albeit weakly, to taking over from Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool eventually, and clearly proving he’s the real-deal when it comes to being a manager.
Gerrard became Rangers boss in 2018 and quickly went about shaping the Glasgow club in his own image.
Shortly after taking over at Rangers, Gerrard signed Lassana Coulibaly on a season long loan from Angers.
The midfielder had a reasonable spell with the club, before returning to his parent team and then on to Cercle Brugge, again on a loan basis.
He’s now back at Angers and impressing with the French club.
Rangers as being something which helped get his game together: “In Scotland, Steven Gerrard gave me a lot of advice on my positioning. At first, as soon as I lost the ball I would stop and say ‘oh no’. He made me realise this was no use and that I had to be the first to go and press.”
