Luton Town and Leeds United are in the picture to sign Sint-Truiden’s Daiki Hashioka in the winter market, according to a report from Belgium.
The Jupiler Pro League side will face KRC Genk in a derby clash tomorrow and the 24-year-old will miss this due to a minor injury.
That’s according to Saturday’s edition of Het Belang van Limburg, who also talk about Luton Town and Leeds United interest in the right-back.
Genk are looking for a new right-back and have identified Hashioka as one of their targets. It may not be easy for them to sign him because the Premier League side and the Whites are also eyeing the fullback.
It’s claimed the Japan international has been ‘open to a transfer’ for some time and his current preference is to make a switch to England, where both Luton Town and Leeds United are ‘main contenders’ to secure his services.
HBVL provide no further information on the fee needed for Luton Town or the Whites to sign the fullback.
At Sint-Truiden, the Japanese has been mainly used as a right wing-back this season. He’s made 19 appearances, scoring two goals and registering two assists in the process.
